Chief Guest Chethan Rajuratna Highlights Role of Parents and Teachers in nurturing Children

Mangaluru, September 26: Emphasising the importance of parental involvement, quality time and holistic education in shaping children’s futures, chief guest Chethan Rajuratna, Principal, HEBICH, Mangaluru, addressed the gathering at the Primary School Annual Day of St Theresa’s School, Bendur, held under the inspiring theme ‘Whispers of Resilience’ for students of Grades 3 to 5.

Speaking at the celebration, Chethan Rajuratna expressed his happiness at being part of the occasion, particularly in his role as a parent. Reflecting on the journey of children from early childhood to becoming confident individuals, he appreciated the school’s holistic approach to education and acknowledged the contributions of its visionary management, dedicated teachers, supportive Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), sports facilities and efficient traffic management.

Highlighting the shared responsibility of parents and teachers in a child’s development, Chethan Rajuratna encouraged parents to exercise patience, spend quality time with their children and nurture their natural curiosity. He urged students to cherish their school days, build lasting friendships and have the courage to explore new opportunities.

He reminded parents that childhood passes quickly and stressed that the love, values and encouragement children receive during their formative years play a vital role in preparing them to face the world with confidence. Principal Sr Lourdes welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest. Chethan Rajuratna was felicitated with a sapling, symbolising growth, hope and the nurturing of young minds.

The programme began with a dignified guard of honour, followed by a prayer and welcome dance presented by Grade 3 students. The performance beautifully reflected the spirit of Atithi Devo Bhava through traditional attire, expressive movements and live singing.

Students Bring ‘Whispers of Resilience’ to Life

The highlight of the evening was the creative presentation by students of Grades 4 and 5, which brought the theme ‘Whispers of Resilience’ to life through dance, drama, music and narration.

Grade 5 students presented three chapters centred on imagination, environmental responsibility and patriotism. Through colourful performances, they celebrated the power of childhood imagination, conveyed the importance of protecting the environment and highlighted the values of responsible citizenship and love for the nation.

Grade 4 students presented a moving portrayal of a child’s journey from home to school and towards a hopeful future. The performance emphasised the importance of parental love, attention and understanding, while portraying teachers as caring guides who nurture confidence, character and resilience. The presentation conveyed a meaningful message that every child’s future is shaped by the values instilled at home, the lessons learned at school and the courage to overcome challenges.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks and the national anthem. The Annual Day was a memorable celebration of the strength, creativity and potential of young minds. Through the message shared by chief guest Chethan Rajuratna and the students’ engaging performances, the programme underscored the importance of a supportive partnership between parents, teachers and the school in nurturing resilient, confident and compassionate individuals.
