One should read the book to understand about how critical decisions transform a person’s life into meaningful dimensions. Dr. Derek Lobo has been in family life as much as he was in social life. Toughest of the times made him to take perfect decisions. He could take balanced decisions at occasions wherein others may default in their decisions. Dr. Derek always valued life and human relations.
A visionary who is well aware of the value systems and wisdomic affirmations, Dr. Lobo had the mind to face challenges whenever popped up right in front of him. He never ran away from difficult situations. When given options, he had selected the meaningful than the comfortable. He took risks in life keeping the family safer and happier.
He opted for the comfort of others even at the loss of his peace of mind. He took tough steps when the patients behaved impatiently and irresponsibly. He became familiar with important people wherever he went. Most of the times he could become the Ambassador of Mangalorean fraternity. He went beyond boundaries and valued everyone with his humane approach. Respect and care was given to everyone who had in turn respected him a lot.
Equality and equity were practiced in family and beyond. Every time he took a decision, he had consulted everyone concerned. Most importantly, at the time of his marriage he had taken up leprosy mission which was a social trauma at that point of time. Beauty in his decision was that he had consulted his fiancee and had taken her consent before accepting the challenging assignment.
The unassuming Doctor has an amazing past full of stories, professional and personal, all of them are emotional towards his person and devotional towards his profession. Dr. Derek Lobo is a man of dialogue. His family holds great reputation since generations. His father was a large public figure. Women were respected and also recognized in the family. No one was lesser than anyone. Given a chance, everyone does well to overcome challenges.
Their family house stands tall in heritage and has lot many stories to tell about the social reforms and human values.
