Nineteen Seventies witnessed higher amount of migration from India to America. Almost every educated Indian aimed at America and the comforts of American life. America was calling professionals and giving them great remunerations and amenities. Indian Doctors had a special privilege in America. Dr. Habeeb naturally had aimed at going to America.
Sri Lanka was one of the recruitment hubs in those days. Certain formalities were done from Sri Lanka. Dr Habeeb’s Father was into Business in Sri Lanka. Many friends to Dr. Habeeb Rahman had benefited through him and could go to America. Dr Habeeb also wanted to follow suit in the same path but destiny had something better kept for him.
I wonder about what would have been the Medical and Medical education scenario in Mangalore if he would have migrated to America according to his initial plan.
